The daily grind...

In our everyday flurry of activities, there are a lot of things that we lose track of. Our problems of the everyday mundane become so big to us that we lose track of the bigger picture - of life in all its glory and magnificence.

When I am really distressed, I try to tell myself that I should try and imagine how this would impact me twenty years later to see if this would matter - things mostly don't... :)  But more often than not, one is lost in the frenzy of daily activity - juggling between to do lists, reminders and coffee breaks. But then you visit places like the Grand canyon and the Bryce Canyon and you see the power of time. You see nature at work - in all her glory.

You see how your existence is only a tiny blip in the fabric of time and how beautiful things rise up from the everyday grind. It does make you pause and reflect.

Like the "comma" in the middle of a sentence, these moments of wonder help me think and take stock of life. They let me tie things together - to experience them better, to assimilate them better and to gain some perspective.

This is the once mighty Colorado river at the grand canyon carving its way through rock, one day at a time, one layer at a time. I wonder if it realizes what it has done over the years?
For that matter - do we realize the impact we are having in our own small ways - for better or for worse...

I guess its something to think about - no?

Eyes...

“The soul, fortunately, has an interpreter - often an unconscious but still a faithful interpreter - in the eye.”
― Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre

“An animal's eyes have the power to speak a great language.”

Find your wings...

“Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.”

― Leonardo da Vinci

Jump...

I thank you God for this most amazing day, for the leaping greenly spirits of trees, and for the blue dream of sky and for everything which is natural, which is infinite, which is yes.

"I'll Be There For You"

So no one told you life was gonna be this way
Your job's a joke, you're broke, your love life's D.O.A.
It's like you're always stuck in second gear
When it hasn't been your day, your week, your month, or even your year, but

I'll be there for you
(When the rain starts to pour)
I'll be there for you
(Like I've been there before)
I'll be there for you
('Cause you're there for me too)

You're still in bed at ten and work began at eight
You've burned your breakfast, so far things are going great
Your mother warned you there'd be days like these
But she didn't tell you when the world has brought you down to your knees and

I'll be there for you
(When the rain starts to pour)
I'll be there for you
(Like I've been there before)
I'll be there for you
('Cause you're there for me too)

No one could ever know me
No one could ever see me
Seems you're the only one who knows what it's like to be me
Someone to face the day with, make it through all the rest with
Someone I'll always laugh with
Even at my worst, I'm best with you, Yeah!

It's like you're always stuck in second gear
When it hasn't been your day, your week, your month, or even your year

I'll be there for you
(When the rain starts to pour)
I'll be there for you
(Like I've been there before)
I'll be there for you
('Cause you're there for me too)

I'll be there for you
(When the rain starts to pour)
I'll be there for you
(Like I've been there before)
I'll be there for you
('Cause you're there for me too)
